Mission Statement

The Malverne High School Library is the heart of our school. Our team is committed to our students, community, and each other. The goal of the library is to ready all students to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens able to meet any challenges in the future. Our school library media program helps students become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. Maintaining a varied collection of resources provides students with information, ideas, and tools they can use to “draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create [and share] new knowledge (American Library Association (ALA), 2007).”

We provide students access to a supportive, welcoming, and learner-centered environment. Partnering with family and the community, we purposefully create relevant opportunities, inside and outside of the classroom, that help students develop the critical thinking skills, character, and knowledge necessary to succeed in a technologically advanced world.

We foster a sense of community and cross-cultural understanding. We ensure high academic achievement for all language speakers and value all cultures. We nurture students academically, socially, and emotionally while creating a positive learning environment that respects linguistic and cultural diversity.
